Molestation Case Goes to Court

65-year-old John Spencer is charged with five counts of unlawful sexual contact with two children under the age of twelve.

The reports of abuse were filed in late August against Spencer, who was a long-time family friend, and known as &quot:Papa&quot: to the kids he’s accused of molesting.

Spencer used to babysit the children on a regular basis, that’s when some of the alleged abuse took place.

A grand jury heard the case Tuesday, indicting Spencer, who was then arrested Wednesday.

Spencer was in court Friday afternoon via video. Deputy District Attorney Alan Kelly says Spencer has pleaded not guilty.

According to Kelly, the earliest this case will go to court would be in March.
