Mills Nominated

Maine’s 124th legislature was officially sworn into office Wednesday morning.

The ceremony took place at the state house in augusta.

Democrats have a strong hold in both chambers: 96 seats in the house and 20 in the senate.

Republicans hold 54 seats in the house and 15 in the senate.

The house also has one independent.

Meanwhile, Maine’s newly elected democratic legislators have nominated representative Janet Mills to be the next attorney general.

Mills is a former prosecutor from Farmington, and has previously served as an assistant attorney general.
