Early Morning Fire In Pittsfield

Crews from at least six departments were called to the Somerset Avenue home around 2:45am.

When they arrived, flames and smoke could be seen coming out of the house.

Pittsfield Assistant Fire Chief Dean Billings tells TV 5 that family members were the ones who called for help.

Local police officers helped the residents evacuate their burning home.

Assistant Chief Billings says it took about an hour to control the flames. The home is heavily damaged.

Fire fighters say the cause was electrical, and the fire started in the basement.
