Take this job and love it Part 2

Updated 5 years ago

Warden Sgt. Chris Simmons got quite a kick out of seeing her gut a deer and take down a tree stand, but now, the tables have turned…and Simmons has to play reporter for a day.
Here’s Part 2 of &quot:Take This Job and Love It.&quot: VERBATIM OF PKG: THE WARDEN-TURNED-REPORTER STARTED THE DAY BRIGHT AND EARLY, GETTING HIS ASSIGNMENT FROM THE DESK… &quot:there was a little boy who was shot by a high-powered pellet gun and it happened in Skowhegan.&quot: &quot:think you can handle it Yeah, not a problem.&quot: WE HEAD TO SKOWHEGAN TO TRY AND PULL TOGETHER THE STORY…
FIRST STOP…THE POLICE DEPARTMENT… THE CHIEF AND DEPUTY CHIEF ARE BOTH OUT…THAT MEANS NO INTERVIEW. SO FAR, REPORTER SIMMONS IS 0-FOR-1.
&quot:alright, so PD, no luck No luck at the PD. We’re going to head up to the trailer park, see if we can find where it all took place.&quot:
FIRST A QUICK DETOUR TO THE JAIL…
&quot:goin’ to get a mugshot. You hope. We hope. If that doesn’t work, we’re just going to go to the park and start talkin’. But then you don’t have a picture of the guy. That’s a problem. We’ll figure that out.&quot:
LUCKY FOR HIM, THE JAIL GAVE OUT THE MUGSHOT…BUT SIMMONS STILL DOESN’T HAVE ANY INTERVIEWS…
IT’S NOT LOOKING GOOD…UNTIL WE HEAD TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE THE INCIDENT HAPPENED.
SIMMONS MANAGES TO CONVINCE A NEIGHBOR TO DO AN INTERVIEW.

&quot:is the boy back in school now Yes, is back in school. Ok.&quot:
&quot:the kid that got shot the other night with the bb gun Which sounds like it was your neighbor You folks be willing to talk about that on camera&quot:

FROM THERE IT WAS BACK TO THE P-D FOR ONE MORE TRY…THIS TIME, DEPUTY CHIEF RICK BONNEAU AGREED TO AN INTERVIEW…

&quot:do you know if he has a criminal history Actually i do not…&quot:

WE ASKED THE DEPUTY CHIEF TO REVIEW SIMMONS’ PERFORMANCE…
&quot:under the circumstances, he did a good job. Anything he left out, anything he forgot Oh, I could start a whole list, but we’ll behave. You think he should keep his day job, or what Yes, definitely.&quot:

NEXT CAME THE HARD PART…THE ON-CAMERA TEASE…

HERE’S MINE…IN ONE TAKE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH…

&quot:I’m Amy Erickson in Skowhegan, where a man is under arrest for allegedly shooting a 12-year-old with a high-powered bb gun. I’ll have the story coming up.&quot:

AND HERE’S SIMMONS’…
&quot:I’m Chris Simmons, today we’re…lemme start over (laughs).&quot:
&quot:I’m Chris Simmons in Skowhegan, looking…agh…(laughs)&quot:
&quot:I’m Chris Simmons…no, you just convicted him. Allegedly or police say. Ok.&quot:
BUT I GIVE HIM CREDIT…HE FINALLY GOT IT AFTER A FEW TAKES…
&quot:was that part a little harder than you thought Ah, that last part right here was. The whole on camera thing Yeah, a little bit. Would you rather do this or gut a deer I’d probably rather gut a deer. I’ll do this.&quot:&gt:
Sergeant Simmons had it easy, since he was called in to work before he could actually *write* the story, but we decided to let him off the hook.
If you have a job you think Amy should try for the day, let us know.
She’s taking suggestions for her next career swap.
