Possible Hate Crimes Investigated on MDI

An anti-racism vigil is being planned for Sunday in Bar Harbor after a serious of disturbing events on Mount Desert Island.

Police say two black cardboard figures were found hanging by nooses from trees in Bar Harbor and tremont the day after the Presidential election.

State troopers are investigating.

They say it’s possible the incidents could be connected to Barack Obama’s win Tuesday night.

Officers say if the perpetrator is caught, he or she could be charged with a hate crime…or at the very least, disorderly conduct.

A group of MDI residents are planning a rally for Sunday at noon on the Bar Harbor village green.
