Reynolds stands accused of shooting his estranged wife.
The state rested its case late Wednesday afternoon, and the defense immediately asked for a motion for acquittal due to the state’s lack of sufficient evidence.
That motion was temporarily denied by judge Andrew Horton.
Defense attorney Peter Barnett suggests that the state has little or no evidence to support the shooting was planned, and that video of a interview between Reynolds and a state police detective shows that police ":put words in Richard Reynolds’ mouth.":
The defense began their testimony on Wednesday, which will continue Thursday morning.
The judge is expected to revisit the motion for acquittal once he has a chance to review the taped interview with police.
