A steel beam from the twin towers arrived in Maine Wednesday. It will be put on display at the new public safety building in Brewer.
The idea came from the president of Nickerson and O’Day, the construction company building the public safety building.
Karl Ward worked for nine months to secure a piece of the world trade center, something no one has asked to do before.
A team from Brewer travelled to New York City this week to select a piece of steel. Ward hopes a lot of people in the region will stop by to see it.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held for the new public safety building on November 7, opening the steel beam for public viewing
TV5 travelled to New York City along with the team, as they selected thepiece of the World Trade Center. It was an emotional journey for reporter Sarah Komunieki, one that she will share Thursday afternoon at 5pm.
