MMA Students’ Job Prospects Looking Good

With the economy in the tank, college

seniors around the country may be facing a tough job market next

spring. But that doesn’t appear to be the case at Maine Maritime

The number of companies that showed up at Castine last week for

a career fair was up from last year, and academy officials say none

of the recruiters have signaled that they plan to cut back on

hiring. Potential growth areas include engineering and overseas

Kincaid Cook, a senior in the marine systems engineering

program, doesn’t seem worried about his job prospects. Cook says

he’s encouraged by the fact that more companies turned out at this

year’s job fair.
