Acadia Gets Ready for Winter

Acadia National Park is getting ready

for winter.

On Friday, the popular park on Mount Desert Island will close

its Hulls Cove Visitor Center and Sand Beach Entrance Station. As

of Nov. 1, park information will be available at the Winter Visitor

Center at park headquarters on Route 233.

The Park Loop Road will close Dec. 1 if there’s no major

snowstorm before then.

Dec. 1 also marks the date on which Blackwoods Campground

reverts to primitive camping only. From December through March, the

access road to Blackwoods will not be open or plowed, and campers

will be required to walk in after obtaining a permit at park

headquarters.
