It all began around 10:50 Thursday night while Searsport police conducted a seat-belt safety check on Rt. 1.
They say the driver of one of the cars, Randall Hofland, that was stopped pointed a gun at a police officer before fleeing the scene.
The suspect ran into some woods and hasn’t been spotted since.
On Friday, police shut down a portion of Rt. 1 and local schools while they searched for the 55-year-old Stockton Springs man.
At last report, Hofland was still on the run, and police hope people will keep their eyes open for him.
Kolfland is described as 5′ 11":, about 200 pounds and has a moustache. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and may be carrying a weapon.
If you see him, or know where he is, please call Maine State Police at 1-800-425-4664, or the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department at 338-2040.
