Winter Harbor Properties Incorporated wants to build an ecological resort on more than 3,000 acres of land.
The proposal calls for 4 education buildings, a golf course, a hotel and housing.
Conservation groups and Friends of Acadia say they fear the development will have a negative impact.
":Any time you put in a massive development on the scale that has been proposed here you are disturbing the soil. You are diverting the water. You’re putting roof where trees were. You’re interrupting wildlife corridors where they have traditionally moved.": Said Tom Sidar on Tuesday. Sidar is the Executive Director of the Frenchman Bay Conservancy.
The project borders Acadia National Park.
Conservation groups say the development is out of scale and out of character with the peninsula.
Representatives of Winter Harbor Properties inc. say they are working on plans that they hope will address the concerns.
