Church Thefts 

Two churches in Ellsworth are the latest to be hit in a string of burglaries that began in August.

Police say someone broke into the Maine Coast Baptist Church in North Ellsworth and left things scattered on the floor.

The same night, Saint Dunstans Church on State St. was broken into. Police say the thieves took a safe containing several hundred dollars.

Lt. Harold Page told TV5 that they believe both break-ins were perpetrated by the same person(s)

Since August, the Kingdom Hall in Bucksport has been broken into twice, several items were stolen from Saint Francis in Blue Hill.

Two other churches in Ellsworth were also broken into in August.

Police say electronic equipment, office supplies and money were stolen from the Family Bible Church.

Local police agencies are sharing information and working together to solve the burglaries.
