Family and friends dedicated a bench in Centennial Park in Brewer Friday to Bob DeLong.
They also planted a flowering crab tree nearby.
DeLong was a photographer for the Bangor Daily News for 22 years before he retired.
He died of leukemia in July at the age of 68.
Those close to him wanted to mark a place to remember him by.
DeLong’s son, Mike, says this spot by the river is perfect.
DeLong got his start at the Bangor Daily News in 1968.
Then he worked as a freelance photographer for United Press International in the 1970s.
In 1980 he moved back to the newspaper’s photography department, where he worked until 2002.
