Coast Guard Investigating Hoax Reports

They hope that the public can helptrace those calls. The last of wich happened Saturday

A man called on a radio saying he had hit rocks near the Hampton Bridge in New Hampshire.

When the call was investigated, there were no signs of any boat in trouble.

Coast Guard officials also responded to two other distress calls last month that turned out to be hoaxes.

Chief Petty Officer Christopher Wheeler says those false distress calls cost tens of thousands of dollars each, and put Coast Guard crews and the boating public in danger.
