Executive Director Michael Heath says the league’s now known as the Maine Family Policy Council. The organization’s board decided to change the name in early September.
Heath says the new name highlights the group’s ties with the national group Focus on the Family, with which it’s been associated since 1990. He said it also reflects the group’s mission of supporting and building stronger families.
The council, which has been active in state issues, has 1,500 financial supporters, 100 of them churches.
