A community forum about addiction recovery will be held Friday October 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield. The forum, called ":A New Beginning to Support Addiction Recovery Within Our Communities: Drums Along the Kennebec,": will feature a keynote presentation by Phil Valentine, director of CCAR (Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery). Valentine will discuss the innovative peer recovery support programs developed by recovering people throughout Connecticut. Community focus group discussions about the recovery support models that will most benefit Kennebec Valley communities will be held in the afternoon. Recovering individuals and families, treatment and service professionals and members of the faith community are encouraged to attend. This workshop is sponsored by the Maine Alliance for Addiction Recovery, AdCare Educational Institute and Central Maine Recovery Group. This event costs $15, and scholarships are available.
