Teena and Peter French lived there with their son, Casey Grant. No one was injured in the blaze.
The Fire Marshal’s office says the fire began in the master bedroom around an air conditioner.
11-year-old Casey has Spina Bifida, and is confined to a wheelchair.
He’s been an honorary fire lieutenant at the Waterville station since 2004, and his fellow firefighters are rallying behind the family.
A benefit pancake breakfast for the French family has been organized for Sunday, Sept. 28th at Applebee’s in Waterville.
According to the firefighters who organized the event, tickets can be purchased either at the Waterville Fire Department or right at Applebee’s for $5 a plate, with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit the family.
Breakfast will be served from 8 to 11 Sunday morning at Applebee’s on Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville.
