Friday morning, Governor John Baldacci met with Union Representatives in Augusta to discuss how the owner of the mill, Brookfield Asset Management hopes to install a biomass boiler to help bring the mill back on line.
The Governor says he’s hopeful that an agreement will be worked out, but stopped short of giving a target date for the mill to reopen.
":They don’t want to be burning any oil and the slow down in the economy just further exaggerated the time frame so it will be closed during the winter time and the hope is that we’ll have a plan that will be making those adjustments as we look towards the spring but there’s no commitment on the company’s part.":
The Governor says another meeting is set for October 8th when more details will be known.
