Sox still alive for Division title

Jon Lester flirts with a no-hitter in his final
tuneup before the playoffs, finishing with six innings of two-hit
ball to lead the Red Sox to a 6-1 victory over Cleveland.
Lester missed the chance to become the fifth pitcher in history
with two no-hitters in a season when Josh Barfield lined a double
into left field to lead off the sixth. Lester (16-6) also gave up
Jamey Carroll’s RBI single before leaving the game.
Lester threw a no-hitter against Kansas City on May 19.
Jacoby Ellsbury and Jed Lowrie hit back-to-back singles in the
first and back-to-back doubles in the second as the Red Sox opened
a 5-0 lead against Jeremy Sowers.
Kevin Youkilis was 2-for-3 with his 28th homer for Boston,
making it 6-1 in the seventh inning.
The Red Sox still have a chance of winning the AL East – if they
win their last three games and Tampa Bay loses its last three.
