Boat Crash Verdict

But the jury was deadlocked on charges of manslaughter and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon on Wednesday.

Prosecutors say Robert LaPointe of Medway, Massachusetts was drunk and recklessly speeding across Long Lake at night when his 32-foot speedboat collided with a smaller boat in August of last year.

The defense contended LaPointe didn’t see the 14-foot boat because it was black and had its lights off.

A man from Naples and a woman from Berwick were killed in the crash.
