Fortune Pleads Not Guilty

Daniel Fortune was arraigned Tuesday in Kennebec County Superior Court on charges that include aggravated attempted murder and robbery.

Fortune is accused of entering the home of 48-year-old William Guerrette on May 27 and slashing him and his 10-year-old daughter Nicole. The two spent weeks in the hospital after the attack.

A second suspect, 18-year-old Leo Hylton, has pleaded not guilty to similar charges. Hylton is Fortune’s one-time foster brother who recently roomed with him in Augusta.

Both men are being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
