In July, 37-year-old Shannon Atwood was found guilty of murdering 38-year old Cheryl Murdoch.
Justice Nancy Mills presided over his trial.
Atwood’s attorney John Alsop says before rendering her verdict a conference was held with the lawyers in the case.
He said Justice Mills stated she had found out that her hairdresser was one of Atwood’s prior abuse victims.
Alsop says since Mills mentioned Atwood’s prior criminal behavior as part of her decision it was incorrect and prejudicial.
