They knew they had their hands full as soon as they arrived at a business on the Odlin road around 4:30 p.m.
Bennetts Wholesale Florist was on fire and it was burning quickly.
Crews from Bangor were called in for mutual aid.
They used water cannons atop ladder trucks to try to drown the flames from above, as other crews battled it on the ground.
Despite their efforts, the fire had too much of a head start and devoured everything in it’s path.
No injuries were reported, the employees had already locked up for the day and gone home.
No word on what sparked the fire. The state fire marshals office will investigate a cause.
