A man from Oakland is in jail after police say he fired a shotgun into a Waterville home where four people were sleeping.
It happened just after 4 am.
Police received calls that a man was outside a house on Kennebec street and had fired a gun several times.
While on their way to the scene, officers were informed that the man had entered the home and pointed the gun at someone inside, demanding to know the location of another male at the residence.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man fleeing the scene.
He was eventually arrested in a nearby park.
The suspect is identified as 27-year-old Jermaine Seawright.
Police say it was a miracle no one in the home was seriously injured or killed, since the slugs fired had penetrated walls and a door.
Seawright is a convicted felon and therefore prohibited from possessing firearms.
Officers believe Seawright was involved in a physical altercation with the male resident at a local bar earlier in the night, and may have gone to the house looking for revenge.
Seawright is facing several charges, including burglary and criminal threatening wth a dangerous weapon.
