Robert Smith has been charged with criminal threatening with a weapon.
Police arrested him at around 10 o’clock Wednesday night outside his apartment on Fourth Street.
About at hour earlier, police received a number of 911 calls about a possible shooting in an apartment on Curves Street, which is near the Bangor Federal Building.
Police say it appears Smith showed up at the apartment and some sort of fight broke out.
Smith is accused of firing off a handgun at least once: no one was injured by the shot.
":You don’t have a murder charge obviously because no one died, but obviously firing a gun in the midst of a physical confrontation: just because he didn’t get hit doesn’t really lessen the charge that much.": Bangor Detective Sergeant Paul Kenison told TV5 on Thursday.
Smith appeared in court Thursday afternoon, where bail was been set at $1,000 cash.
Detective Sergeant Kenison says the district attorney could also file an assault charge against Smith.
He’s due back in court in September.
