It all started when two witnesses reportedly interrupted a burglary at Dysart’s Travel Stop in Newburgh. An alarm was triggered, and a private security firm contacted police, who were in route when the would-be burglars fled in a black Chevy Impala.
The witnesses apparently followed the Impala north along I-95, eventually losing the car on the highway. Police received a description of the vehicle from the witnesses, along with a plate number that police say matches the description of one that was recently reported stolen in Cumberland County.
When state police tried to make a stop on I-95, the vehicle fled, turning off Kelly Road, and then traveling back towards Bangor on Route 2. The vehicle turned back onto Hogan Road before once again heading northbound on I-95.
A spike mat ended the chase at mile marker 198 near Old Town.
26-year-old Robert Fogg of Winn and Nicole Ball, 23 of Biddeford, were arrested on a number of charges.
The two were being held Tuesday morning at Penobscot County Jail.
