It happened at about twelve thirty Sunday afternoon at the intersection of the Charleston and Atkinson Roads.
State police say 87-year-old Margaret Higgins was a passenger in a car driven by her son, Carroll Higgins.
As their car went through the intersection, it was hit by a pickup truck driven by 84-year-old Elaine Carey of Milo.
According to police, Carey failed to stop at the stop sign.
Margaret Higgins was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Elaine Carey and her passenger were taken to Mayo regional hospital with minor injuries.
Troopers say once their investigation is complete, the district attorney will decide whether to file charges.
