It’s part of the ":National Night Out": campaign designed to help steer kids away from substance abuse and crime.
Members of the Penobscot Nation tribal youth council organized the event.
There was everything from bounce houses to face painting.
Organizers wanted to spread their message, while letting kids have fun at the same time, and say that their effort doesn’t stop here.
":In a few months we hope to establish a council with all youth, that our problems we see in the community and help bring it out and show what really is happening if people don’t see what’s going on.": Said event organizer Morgan Talty.
Tuesday night’s event was free, and included a carnival-like atmosphere so that entire families could get involved.
