Ryan Muncey entered his plea in Androscoggin County Superior Court in Auburn on Tuesday.
He is charged in the June 11th killing of 26-year-old Casey Stanley.
After the stabbing, Muncey and his girlfriend allegedly fled the state with their 1 and 2-year-old children.
The couple were arrested a few days later in Illinois.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Muncey’s attorney asked that his client be released on 25-thousand dollars bail. Prosecutors want him held without bail.
A judge did not rule on the bail issue, so Muncey remains held without bail at the Androscoggin County Jail for the time being.
