This weekend has been frustrating for many Mainers who weren’t able to make long distance calls.
Some were quick to blame Fairpoint. But a representative from the company says Verizon’s long distance network actually caused the problem.
Fairpoint’s Jeff Nevins says many customers who tried to make long distance calls travelling along Verizon networks were not able to connect to the party they were calling.
Nevins says the Verizon network problems were widespread, affecting callers in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York.
As of Sunday morning, though, the network was back up and running and folks were able to place long distance calls as usual.
