After going without for a couple of weeks, employees of Red Shield could soon be getting their paychecks.
Red Shield and RSE pulp and chemical officials say the companies have filed petitions for relief under chapter 11 bankruptcy.
It’s is part of a reorganization agreement they reached with their lenders.
About 150 workers at the Old Town plant were laid off three weeks ago in what supposed to be a four-day shutdown.
There’s still no word on when the mill will be fully up and running again.
Red Shield was formed in November of 2006 for the purpose of purchasing a mill formerly owned by Georgia Pacific.
G-P had closed the mill several months earlier, idling about 400 workers.
The State of Maine bought the mill from G-P and Red Shield bought it from the state.
