An explosion shattered the normal tranquility of the Upper Cold Stream Ponds a little after 1 o’clock Wednesday morning, and the calls started pouring in to emergency crews shortly thereafter.
When fire crews arrived at the camp on the McGregor Road in the area known as The Narrows, they found a camp fully engulfed in flames, and multiple people reportedly both in and out of the water.
The remote location complicated the fire fighters’ attempts to quench the flames.
Lifelight was called to transport at least two people to a hospital for evaluation.
One young lady reportedly received 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 60% of her body. She, as well as another individual, were taken by helicopter directly to a Boston hospital for treatment.
Fire crews from three surrounding towns aided Lincoln in the fight.
The fire marshall’s office was called in to investigate the cause of the blaze.
