As a result of that problem, 36 Maine soldiers from the 169th Military Police Company got an early visit to their home state.
The plane was diverted to B.I.A. for repairs, and that’s where the veterans were greeted by family and friends, after nearly a year training Iraqi police in the war zone.
The next stop for the troops is their original destination at Fort Dix, New Jersey, where they’ll be demobilized.
They’ll be home in Maine for good, sometime next week.
