Lucerne Inn’s Sunday Morning Coffee Cake

2 C flour

1 C brown sugar

C white sugar

tsp. nutmeg

tsp. salt

C vegetable oil

1 C buttermilk

1 egg

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 cup chopped nuts

1 11/2 cups fruit if desired

Preheat oven to 350. In a bowl add first six ingredients.. and mix until completely combined. Remove cup and reserve for topping for the coffee cake. Add buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and baking soda. Mix until smooth. Mix the cup of crumb mixture with cinnamon and nuts until combined. Pour the batter into a 10 inch round prepared cake pan, add the fruit if desired, and sprinkle crumb topping evenly over the cake. Place on middle rack of the oven and allow to bake at 350 for45 60 minutes. When cake is finished baking, remove and allow to cool in pan. Add a powder sugar glaze and enjoy.
