The body of Wayne Crosby was found in the Penobscot River Tuesday afternoon.
The East Millinocket residentwas fishing with his brother and another man last Wednesday (June 11) when some bad weather moved in.
They couldn’t get the motor started on their canoe and ended up getting sucked into the water falling from the Welden Dam.
Two of the men survived, but Crosby vanished beneath the surface and was swept away.
Game Wardens and many civilians have been searching the river ever since.
Some fishermen from out of state discovered Crosby’s body Tuesday afternoon about 300 yards south of Chester Bridge in the town of Chester.
Officials were able to positively identify the remains from identification Crosby had been carrying in his pocket.
The Medical Examiner will try to determine an exact cause of death.
