Director Jim Ryan says the problem happened in one of the state’s electronic systems that distributes 911 calls among dispatchers.
Turns out that some of those calls weren’t getting through to dispatchers.
Officials at the center noticed the problem immediately, and switched over to a backup plan, which temporarily handed over the frontline duties for emergency calls to the State Police in Orono.
Technicians have spent the past four days figuring out the problem.
The original system was put back online at around noon Tuesday.
