53-year-old Kenneth Knox was sentenced on Wednesday to 30 years in prison for arson, attempted murder, and other charges. Half of the sentence has been suspended.
The incident happened on christmas day 2005.
Knox shared a home with his sister and her husband.
Police say Knox got upset when his brother-in-law asked him to go outside to clean his chain saw. That’s when knox chased his in-law with an ax.
He then poured gasoline on a wood-burning stove, which erupted in flames, burning the house down.
Knox was found guilty last May in a non-jury trial.
