With the Memorial day weekend fast approaching…Maine is joining every other state in the nation for this year’s ":Click it — or Ticket": campaign.
Beginning Monday and running through June first, police are warning if they see you driving without a seatbelt, you will be ticketed.
The program has been hugely popular..
This year, police say they are focusing their efforts on teen drivers, and nighttime seatbelt use. Police say that’s an area with plenty of room for improvement.
If you’re caught driving without a seatbelt, it’ll cost you $70 for the first offense, and $160 if you’re caught a second time.
