The members of the Maine State Supreme Court were in Bangor to hear five cases today. The first case of the day was an appeal by 24 year old Heath Saint Louis.
He was sentenced in June to ten years in prison with all but 3 and a half years suspended after being convicted on manslaughter charges. Saint Louis was found responsible for the deaths of Elias Russell and Drake Martell as the result of a car accident in October of 2004. Saint Louis is free on bail during the appeal process. His lawyer argued today that Saint Louis was not driving the car at the time of the accident. The other main point in the appeal was that the car was destroyed by the insurance company months before the arraignment in 2005.
