26-year-old Michael Fitzsimmons is charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and assault.
The assault reportedly took place at around ten o’clock Wednesday night at Fitzsimmons’ Gold Street apartment.
Police say they arrived to find Fitzsimmons had barricaded himself in.
Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey of the Waterville police department said on Thursday that the situation could easily have turned out much worse.
":Obviously we’re very concerned with this pattern of behavior, and these serious threats, being in possesion of a firearm when making these threats, and we’re happy officer Weigelt was able to talk him out of the apartment.":
Fitzsimmons is being held at the Kennebec County Jail with no bail. He’ll go before a judge on June 10th.
