Half dozen schools have been broke into. Money, computers and cameras are among the items stolen.
The elementary school in Alexander was one of the first to be hit. Police say the thieves damaged a door while breaking into the office and then broke a lock on a file cabinet.
A laptop computer was stolen, as was money from a water machine, and $200 raised at a basketball game by the parent/teacher group.
Schools in Pembroke, Perry, Edmunds, Charlotte and the Airline Community School were also broken into. Police say they believe all of them are connected.
Authorities say all of the burglaries took place weekends in the late night or early morning hours.
Police hope folks will be watchful and report anything unusual.
