On Wednesday, they kicked off their efforts to establish an endowment fund.
The club has been around since 2000, and it now serves 200 children in a variety of programs.
Board members say it’s a positive place for kids to go, and they want to make sure it’s there for years to come.
An endowment of $6,000,000 would allow the club to use the interest to pay for operating expenses.
Tom Chappell, the creator of Tom’s of Maine, provided the seed money for the campaign.
This is the only Native American Boys and Girls Club in the country.
The club staff say the programs are open, and free to all kids in the greater Bangor area.
