Maine state police say Eric Niles, who lived in Alton, Maine, killed 20-year-old Blake Michaud when he found Michaud and the woman together in her family’s home in Bradley, Maine, early yesterday.
Police say Niles abducted the woman, 18-year-old Kristin Cates, and fled the state in a pickup truck he had stolen from his grandfather. She had recently broken up with Niles and had obtained a protective order against him.
Niles died early today, hours after he shot himself in the head as Connecticut troopers surrounded the pickup truck after a pursuit on I-95 that ended in Norwalk.
Police say Cates, who was in the truck at the time, was not injured and will not face charges.
