A 12-year-old boy has died in a fire that destroyed his father’s mobile home in the Hancock County town of Eastbrook.
According to Maine State Police, Thomas McNeil’s body was found in his bedroom after the fire was reported at 5 a.m. Saturday.
His father, 35-year-old Rick McNeil, is the town’s fire chief.
He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland to be treated for smoke inhalation and burns.
According to Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland, the father was rescued from the home by his brother, who lives nearby.
Fire marshal investigators and state police detectives are investigating.
