Ellsworth Preparing for State Budget Cuts

CITY OFFICIALS IN ELLSWORTH ARE HARD AT WORK ON A NEW BUDGET.

THE COMMUNITY EXPECTS TO GET HIT BY BIG CUTS IN STATE FUNDING FOR EXPENDITURES LIKE SCHOOLS AND ROADS.

CITY MANAGER MICHELLE BEAL SAYS THE CUTS COME AT THE SAME TIME THAT ELLSWORTH IS LOOKING AT A 5 PERCENT INCREASE IN CITY EXPENSES.

BEAL SAYS CLOSE TO HALF OF THAT IS IN PUBLIC WORKS COSTS TO MAINTAIN ROADS.

BEAL SAYS IT WILL TAKE A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE THE CITY KNOWS ALL THE DETAILS ABOUT HOW THE STATE BUDGET CUTS WILL AFFECT ELLSWORTH.

THE CITY COUNCIL WILL VOTE ON THE NEW BUDGET IN JUNE.
