Abduction Attempts

Updated 6 years ago

Police are asking people in Winterport to be on the lookout for the driver of a dark station wagon who tried to abduction two young girls in just an hour’s time. Both attempts took place after school last week. Trooper Jonah O’roak says about 2:30pm on Thursday, an 11-year-old girl got off the school bus on North Main street. Then a man in a car pulled up to her and asker her to get in. She ran off. O’roak says about an hour later, a 12-year-old girl was walking to a friend’s house on Route 69.A man in a similar car drove up and offered her a ride. When she told him no, the driver reached for something and the girl took off. Police believe the car is a dark blue, older model station wagon, possibly a Volvo.
It has dented doors, chipped paint and a broken back bumper. The driver is described as about 50 years old, 6-feet-tall, 200 to 250 pounds, with salt and pepper colored hair and a bald spot. He also has a beard of the same color and was wearing a gray t-shirt and jeans with paint stains. Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Augusta.

The number is 1-800-452-4664.

authorities have also stepped up patrols in the area.
