The Maine Discovery Museum store learned in late December that some of the toys its was selling were part of a recall.
The company, Eeboo pulled some of its sketch pads off store shelves after finding out there’s lead paint in the spiral bindings. Eeboo also recalled its Tot Towers because of lamination that can flake off the blocks and choke children.
Store manager Dave Snyder says the museum had been selling those toys for about a month when they found out about the recall.
Snyder says the museum did its best to contact the half dozen or so customers who bought the toys.
The discovery museum is also taking a proactive role in helping parents keep track of all recalled toys.
The museum store has a handout list of web sites, with information on toy safety issues as well as the latest lists of recalls.
