Police on Wednesday ruled the death of Naomi Buzzell a homicide.
She was found Tuesday afternoon in her second-floor apartment on South Belfast Avenue after police were contacted by relatives.
On Wednesday morning, police with a search warrant went to the Somerville home of 63-year-old Albert Violette. They found Violette behind a shed on his property, the victim of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to state police spokesman Steve McCausland, Violette and Buzzell’s long-term relationship had broken off in the past year or so, but they had been seeing each other again in the past two months.
Maine State Police and Augusta police are continuing their investigations.
