Police are on the lookout for a man who tried to sell jewelry that had been reported stolen from a home burglary.
According to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department, an assortment of rings, watches, necklaces and other jewelry items valued at $127,000 were reported stolen from a home in Glenburn last month while the owners were away on vacation.
Investigators say a man on Wednesday entered Cash-X-Press with a young child and tried to sell several pieces of jewelry.
The clerk noticed the jewelry matched items on a list of stolen jewelry and asked the man if the items were stolen. The man fled the store with the child, but left the jewelry behind.
Officials say the jewelry was later identified as coming from the Glenburn home.
