Real ID Update 

Without that move today, come May 11th Maine drivers licenses would have been no good as proof of id at airports and federal buildings.

The Department of Homeland Security listed several shortcomings in Maine’s Real ID compliance effort.

Governor Baldacci is submitting legislation to address those shortcomings.

And that’s buying our state more time to get in line with the program.

Homeland Security wants Maine to stop issuing licenses to illegal aliens.

Right now you don’t need proof of residency in Maine or in the U.S. to get a Maine driver’s license.
